ORIGINAL ARTICLE: Dancer accuses Diljit Dosanjh’s ‘Unprofessional’ Team of Poor Pay
A dancer took to Instagram to slam Diljit Dosanjh’s team, accusing them of being “unprofessional” and claiming that she and other dancers were paid a pittance.
London-based Shilpa Sajan said she pulled out of the European leg of Diljit Dosanjh’s Dil-Luminati tour as a result.
On Instagram, she detailed the alleged unprofessional treatment she and fellow backup dancers received.
The statement read: “Recently, I was selected as a backup dancer for Diljit Dosanjh’s Dil-Luminati Europe Tour.
“As a dancer who’s been doing this professionally for years, this could have been one of the highlights of my dance career. But I pulled out.”
Shilpa went on to say that the dancers were offered just £80 and were told to pay for their own travel and accommodation.
She continued: “Earlier this year, Diljit and his team sparked outrage because they didn’t pay the dancers who performed for his US tour, but we were told this would be a paid opportunity.
“I should’ve known better.
“We soon found out they were offering us 80 GBP, and we had to cover our own travel and accommodation costs for most of it, even when international travel was involved.
“Still, they promised us this would be an incredible once-in-a-lifetime experience and as a fan; I’ll be honest, I said yes at first.
“But unfortunately for that price, you get what you pay for.
“I have never worked with such an unprofessional and disrespectful management team in my life.”
Shilpa highlighted the poor communication between management and dancers that left her “stressed for days on end”.
In the caption, Shilpa tagged Diljit and wrote:
“No celebrity is worth giving up your self-respect @diljitdosanjh.”
The controversy surrounding Diljit and his team allegedly not paying dancers has been an ongoing topic in 2024.
Famous Punjabi dancer and choreographer Manpreet Toor also claimed that she was not paid by Diljit’s team for helping with choreography.
Manpreet commented on Shilpa’s post:
“Beautiful for you to take a stand for yourself. It takes a lot of courage to speak out and I’m so proud of you.”

Diljit’s team has denied the claims, calling them “baseless and untrue, with a superstar like Diljit it’s easy for anyone and everyone to comment and make news out of it”.
However, the public has not been so trusting.
One netizen said: “Seen so many posts about Diljit and his management not paying the dancers on his tour fairly, asking them to dance for “exposure” rather than paying them their fair share.
“I’ve kind of lost respect for the man. If you can’t respect another artist, don’t call yourself one.”
Another said: “Damn if this girl is right, the dancers who performed for Diljit got paid peanuts.”
Diljit has now wrapped the European leg of his tour and will begin the ‘Dil-Luminati India Tour 2024’ in Delhi on October 26.
